New species of owl discovered...and it is already endangered.
#1
A new species of owl has been discovered living in the rainforests of Sao Tome and Principe in Central Africa. It is a small nocturnal bird that makes small beeping sounds like an insect. The Principe Scops Owl lives in a 15 square kilometer area and there are about 1000-1500 of them. A hydroelectric dam is scheduled to be built in that area. Principe Island is only 139 square kilometers, but this is the eighth bird species to be found to live there.

It is essential that we act to save this little owl and the other 7 species that share its island.
We have only just found this owl. It is not okay that we risk its extinction for any reason. Too many habitats are being depleted or destroyed. We need to stop and preserve biodiversity while we still have biodiversity. Even the loss of one owl species is one loss too many.
