The Ikea monkey, where is it now?
#1
You may remember that ten years ago a monkey was found in a Toronto Ikea wearing a custom made winter coat. Darwin is actually a Japanese Macaque and it is illegal to keep him in Toronto. He was rescued by Animal Services and ended up at Story Brook Farm Primate Sanctuary.

Ten years later he is still there at Story Brook Farm.
He no longer wears fancy coats. He lives his life as a macaque.

This is the best thing that could have happened to Darwin. He was born into the pet trade.
It would not have ended well for him. Because of his trip into the Ikea Store he ended living his live with other monkeys, even another macaque.
He is free to live as a macaque and be the way he is meant to be. He certainly looks happy and he has grown to be a fine looking macaque.
I hope he has many more years ahead of him.
