Beavers returned to Hampshire after 400 year absence
#1
Beavers are native to Europe and the UK. They were hunted to extinction in many areas. Hazel and Chompy were released into a 925 acre property where it is hoped they will establish themselves and breed.
Beaver are a key stone species and they could be a great help in mitigating climate change. Their ponds capture carbon and clean water of sediment. They increase biodiversity.

This is the beginnings of an effort to restore the beaver population.

This could transform and restore landscapes that have been damaged by human activity. This could stabilize ecosystems and restore them to health.
Who knows what those two little beavers could do, especially if there are more.
Remember the wolves in Yellowstone park and the positive changes they brought about.
It may take time to see the benefits, but they will be lasting benefits. These changes will be good for the whole planet. Restoring the beaver everywhere they should be may help us combat climate change in a meaningful way.

I think Hazel and Chompy and a team of their friends are ready for this.
