Animal rights protest in Lisbon
#2
This all goes to show the importance of carefully drafted, legally watertight legislation on the issue of animal cruelty. If someone was convicted of throwing his puppies in a rubbish bin (as the article mentions) but subsequently acquitted on appeal - then there is something seriously wrong with the law(s) involved.

The protest is trying to do good and I wish the protesters every success in highlighting animal cruelty as an issue needing strong legislation. Portugal clearly needs to revise its animal cruelty laws to make them watertight, so that offenders can be successfully prosecuted.
