Designer pets are the breeds of dogs like Pugs whose faces are so shortened they have trouble breathing and cats with folded ears.
These animals suffer health problems because of the traits that humans have selected for them.
Breeding of these designer pets was banned in the Netherlands in 2014. People who currently have these pets will be allowed to keep them for the rest of their lives. Importing and selling/buying them will be banned.

These animals may be really cute, but they have miserable lives. They struggle to breathe. Dogs with extreme skulls could be suffering from headaches most of their lives. Many of these traits in a mild form would have occurred naturally as mutations, but we cross bred them until they were extreme.
It would be a kindness to stop breeding animals that will suffer all their lives.
Norway has already banned breeding of some extreme breeds.
This is a step in the right direction and I hope it catches on.
