Rhino poaching increased in Namibia
#1
Rhino poaching in Namibia increased by 93% in 2022. This is an alarming trend. There was some decline in poaching during the covid lockdowns, but now that things are opening up, the poachers are back. Part of the Namibia increase is because there is such a rhino population decline in other countries, they have to poach elsewhere to find rhinos.
Most of the deaths occurred in Etosha National Park. This is being investigated. It is possible some staff are working with the poachers.

This is so discouraging. No matter how hard we work at conservation and species preservation, there are people out there undoing the work.
Rhinos could be driven to extinction if we do not reverse these trends.
