Off the west coast of Vancouver, Canada is designating 133,000 sq Km as a Marine Protected Area.
This is an area of thermal vents, sea mounts and Methane seeps. It is home to a diversity of species.
It is the feeding ground for animals like sperm whales. It is important that this area be protected.

There will be deep sea mining in areas near this site and that will have a negative impact on the MPA. The sediment created by mining will damage the protected area too. Animals in the protected area will suffer harm.
More must be done to protect it. The first step is the declare the area an MPA.
