Lynx in France in danger of extinction
#1
The Lynx population in France is down to 150 adults. The population is lacking genetic diversity. Without intervention the population will die out.
There are losses from poaching and traffic collisions. This needs to be addressed by enforcing anti-poaching laws and some good road signs to warn drivers about lynx in the area.
The lack of genetic diversity must be addressed as well. There are ways to help this situation. There could be an exchange of orphaned cubs between wildlife centers from different areas. New adults could be introduced to replace poached lynx.
Without intervention the population of lynx in France could be gone in 30 years.

It is good that we are aware of the problem while there is still time to do something. If the right efforts are made the lynx population could become healthier genetically. The population could even expand. Now all we need is the will to act.
