Over 1000 Pangolins were poached in India between 2018 and 2022.
Their scales are being used in some form of "traditional" medicine.
Almost half the pangolins seized from poachers were already dead, killed for their scales.
Given how vulnerable they are, there needs to be much stronger protections if they are going to survive.

Pangolins are such gentle creatures. It is unthinkable what is done to them. They live quiet lives building burrows and eating insects. How can anyone think the pangolin scales have medicinal properties. They are killed horribly. How can that be good medicine.
We need to seriously rethink our relationship to nature and we need to rethink what we mean by medicine. Things that have true medicinal value are usually given to us by the earth without the need for violence and cruelty.
