DMZ between North and South Korea has become a wildlife paradise
#1
A stretch of land between North and South Korea has been set aside as a demilitarized zone. That means there is almost no human activity. It has been that way for 70 years,
In the absence of humans, nature thrives. It is a haven for plants and animals. Endangered species live there in peace. For migrating birds it is a haven. All around them, habitats have been destroyed. In the DMZ they are safe.
The hope is that the area can stay safe for animals.

There is a lesson here, when humans are absent from an area, nature recovers. It happened Korea and it happened around Chernobyl. When an area is set aside and humans are excluded, it turns into a wildlife paradise.

We need to set aside more land for nature to survive.
We also need to figure out how to use land without destroying it.
