Don't put your pet through the Xray machine at the airport
#1
The people doing the screening at the airport want your pet carrier to go through the X-ray machine. In fact it must go through the machine before they will let you take it on an airplane. However, they do not want your pet to be in the carrier when it goes through the X-ray machine. They want you to take the pet out of the carrier and hold it while you walk through the metal detector.

The machine could be distressing for a pet. It is also not recommended that the pet be X-rayed unnecessarily.

Times have changed. Now we can take our pets into the cabin of the plane, but not without security screening. It is safer not to X-ray your pet, especially if you travel a lot. Too much exposure can have health consequences.
If you are not sure, ask the security people before you hand over the carrier.
With a pet it is always better to do the safer thing.
