Canada goose nesting in planter outside Kansas store

A Canada goose and her mate have chosen a planter outside a Kansas store as their nesting site. She stays on the eggs and he watches to make sure they are safe. The store staff are watching out to make sure they are safe. Customers are being very respectful and letting the geese hatch their eggs in peace.

I am surprised that Canada geese are nesting so far south. Of course, maybe they saw the weather channel. Geese are not nesting in Canada right now.
I am surprised that they are claiming geese are not dangerous. In Canada we have a healthy respect for Canada Geese.
