Relocated Cheetah dies of kidney failure
#1
There is a program to restore cheetahs to India. Last September 8 cheetahs were brought to India, from Namibia. They all seemed to be doing well, but one of the females developed kidney trouble and has died. That leaves 3 males and 4 females. They are doing well.
In February 7 males and five females were brought from South Africa.
Cheetahs went extinct in India 70 years ago. It is hoped that they will soon roam India's national parks again.

Even with one loss the project is having good success. The Cheetahs are settling in. Any offspring they produce  will be at home in the new location.
It is too early to know what effect the cheetahs will have, but things always work out when apex predators are restored to an area.
They have only been gone for 70 years. There return should go well.
