Animals get a second chance in Peru
#1
There are two wildlife centers in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. Taricaya Eco Reserve takes in spider monkeys. They raise them and prepare them for life in the wild.  Amazon Shelter takes in Howler Monkeys and other animals like sloths. They also raise and rehabilitate the animals for release.
The shelters care for the animals, but the environmental police service rescues them. Many are orphaned because of illegal mining activities. Some of the animals started out as pets who quickly became unmanageable.
Hundreds of animals have been given a second chance and the numbers are not letting up.

It is good to know that people are working the save the animals that are impacted by human activities. It is complicated work and  it takes a lot of dedication to keep on year after year with no end in sight. It cam also take years to prepare animals for release. It is good to know that someone is doing this work.
There will always be animals that need them.
