A horse dies at the Calgary Stampede in 2023

It is Calgary Stampede time and yet another horse has died because of the chuck wagon races. The hose suffered an injury and was euthanized.
This is not a first. A horse dies most years, sometimes more than one horse.

The whole Stampede has a history of animal deaths.

Animals get killed regularly because of the Stampede. The numbers are not good.
The chuckwagon races seem to be the worst. They are unnecessarily dangerous for horses. 
Too many years at least one horse gets killed. In 1986 12 chuckwagon horses were killed. In 2010 and 2019, six chuckwagon horses were killed.
There have even been two humans killed in the chuckwagon races.

Yes I have seen the races, back in 1968. It was exciting and fun. But then it started to come out about how many horses were being killed.
Somehow it doesn't seem so much fun any more. Is it really entertainment when horses are risking their lives and way to often being killed.
Is it time to shut down the chuck wagon races? I think so. Will it actually happen? I hope so.

I hate any sport or function when animals die,shouldn't happen.

All the big races seem to have horse deaths. Maybe we need to stop horse racing. It doesn't benefit the horses in any way.
