Farewell to Samson the Grizzly bear

The Toronto Zoo said farewell to their Grizzly Bear Samson this week. He was a 25 year old bear who came to the zoo as an orphan in 1998. He lived a good life and was much loved. When he came out of hibernation this year his health was failing. The decision was made to end his pain.
His friends were with him, he was given treats and he passed peacefully.

I am going to miss seeing him. He loved his snacks and I saw him enjoying fruit and vegetables many times.
One summer I brought a salmon sandwich for my lunch. I just barely open the plastic and Samson was right there at the wire watching me eat. 
He loved his salmon. Do you know how hard it is to eat a salmon sandwich with a grizzly bear starring at you.

He will be missed.
