Saving the Water Voles
#1
The public in London is being asked to help with water vole conservation efforts. They are encouraged to report any water vole sightings as part of a water vole recovery program. The water vole numbers have dropped as much as 93%. Their survival is at risk. They have suffered from habitat loss, pollution of the waterways and predation by American Mink. Identifying populations will aid in conservation efforts. The public were given information on how to recognize the presence of a water vole.

Hopefully this effort will give the water voles a fighting chance at survival. Too many species have been lost already. Water voles are a quiet little species and even though they are seldom seen, it would be sad to lose them.
