Activists in Japan fight against festival that injures horses

As part of centuries old traditions, horses are ridden along a route to a local shrine. To make it more "exciting" a wall has been added that the horses must jump. Horses have been injured and even died because of this tradition.
Activists want to put a stop to it.

Once again a so called  tradition causes harm and suffering to animals. I am sure there are some key components that can be used to celebrate without risking harm to the horses involved. It is time this is changed.
