28 year old chimp sees the sky for the first time

Vanilla the chimp is 28 years old and has lived her entire life in a lab. Much of that time was in small cages.
It is now illegal in the USA to use chimps in research. It took time to rehome the chimps. She is now at a sanctuary in Florida.
The video shows her reaction when she sees the sky for the first time.

The look on her face is unforgettable. It speaks volumes about what it is like to be a lab animal and then finally be freed.

Since being released at the sanctuary, Vanilla has continued to explore and roam the area. She doesn't want to go back inside.
