Too often we turn to poison for pest control with rodents. Sadly it is a terrible way to die and other animals are killed. In particular, birds of prey are getting poisoned. A better method is to use owls for pest control. London, Ontario has started a project called Responsible Pest Management Pilot Program.
Ontario Wildlife Removal, Bird Friendly London and Green Economy London have teamed up to make this work. The idea is to put up Owl Boxes in areas that have a pest problem. Five locations will be chosen and monitored for success.

This is a great idea. It is using nature and natural predators to control nature in the form of pests.
There will be no negative side effects to using owls. Once established the owls can stay and create more owls.
This is a sustainable approach and it is ecofriendly. I hope it has good success and it is able to expand next year.
