Learning to live with beavers
#1
Beavers have long been considered a pest animal, but we know better now. Areas with beaver dams do not  dry out and are less in danger from fires.
Beavers may be out best ally against the effects of climate change. They stabilize the watershed.

In an area in Alberta that is letting the beavers do their thing, a road was getting flooded. No, they didn't tear out the dam. They found a way to keep the water level from getting too high. They found a way to work with the beavers.

We need more people like the photographer who has gotten close to the beavers and shows us what they are really like.

If they can learn to work with beavers in one place they can learn to do it anywhere. We need the beavers at work in any area that they used to naturally exist. They are a natural protection against uncontroled wildfires.

The fur trade that almost wiped out the beavers has really set us up for the natural disasters we are experiencing now.
If we want to reverse things and give nature a chance, we need to encourage the return of beavers.
