The water levels in the Fraser River are low and the spawning salmon are unable to go up the river past a waterfall. Word went out for volunteers to help the salmon. Dozens of people showed up. They are hand netting the salmon and passing them up to the water above the falls. This allows them to reach their spawning grounds. So far, over 5000 salmon have been saved.

This is amazing and it shows the dedication of people to helping nature. If the salmon do not make it to the spawning grounds there will be no salmon to return in four years. All the parts of the ecosystem that depend on salmon would be in trouble.
The volunteers are not just helping the salmon, they are saving a whole ecosystem and all that are dependent on it.
Well done salmon savers, well done.
