Bison to be returned to Alberta foothills
#1
Bison were an essential part of the ecological stability of the Canadian prairies. The bison are seen as a way of improving the health of the ecosystem.
They are just starting the process, but a herd of Bison will be returned to the eastern slopes of the foothills. The likely location will be Bob Creek Wildlife Park.

The Foothills Bison Restoration Society is now fundraising for the project.

This is good news for the prairies. It will take a long time to return Bison to their full natural territory, but each herd returned restores that area to health.
It is a big undertaking, but there are a number of herds now. If we are going to fight climate change we have to work with nature. Returning keystone species is crucial to restoring the land.
We have no choice. Last years fires are a warning of things to come.
