500 baby sea turtles return to the ocean

A preservation program in Colombia is working with fishermen and a turtle sanctuary.  Fishermen are cooperating be reducing harmful fishing practices. 
Turtle eggs are gathered and hatched safely at the sanctuary. They are released to into the ocean. This year 500 turtles were released.

This is a tremendous success. Five hundred is a lot of baby turtles. 
Conservation programs can make a big difference in the survival of a species.
Getting the cooperation of local fishermen is also an important step in helping the turtles. 
When everyone works together we can do great things for nature.
