Wildlife reserve to help migrating butterflies
#1
A new wildlife reserve in Oshawa Ontario will provide a safe place for migrating butterflies. The reserve is about 16.7 hectares of land. It will provide green space with butterfly gardens for the butterflies that rest there during their migration. Monarch butterflies travel from Canada to Mexico every fall. Every spring they travel from Mexico to Canada. The need a lot of help to male the journey. Having this green space will be good for the area all year round, but for the migrating butterflies, it will be life saving.

It takes a lot of people to sustain a fragile species. Monarchs need us to provide food and resting places along their whole route. This reserve is part of a lot of efforts being made to help the monarchs. Ideally there would be wildlife reserves along the whole migration route. At least we are planting so their is at least a food source along the way.
