Granville Island Bunnies rescued
#1
Granville Island is part of Vancouver. People have released pet rabbits and they have multiplied. This was attracting coyotes.
A cull was planned, but animal advocates intervened. The rabbits have been captured and will all eventually end up in homes.

Abandoning pets is never a good idea. Even though they could survive, the rabbits were a problem. They did have to be removed. A cull is a brutal solution.
It is fortunate that there were people on hand who could capture the rabbits and care for them.  Two of the females were pregnant and produced 10 more rabbits. If they hadn't trapped them their numbers would have kept growing. If people don't want a pet, better to give it to a shelter. It would be easier for everyone than having to do a big rabbit rescue operation. Better yet, if you are not prepared for the commitment a rabbit needs, don't get a rabbit.

At least it ended well for these rabbits.
