Animal are now being mentioned in our obituaries.
#1
There has been a change in our attitudes towards animals. One place it is noticeable is in obituaries.
Canadian obituaries were studies and before 1990, of the ones studied, none made reference to pets.
By mid 2000s pets were mentioned in 1-4% of the obituaries studied. By 2015 the number was 15%.
Animals are increasingly important in our lives and we are more willing to acknowledge that publicly.

Since obituaries increasingly tell people who we were, it makes sense that they would need to mention our pets.
Our pets play in important role in our lives. How could you describe me and not mention the animals in my life.
That is true of so many of us.

Since animals are important to us, they deserve to be mentioned among those we leave behind.
