Creating new spaces for Hazel Dormice
#1
Hazel Dormice are endangered. In 2021 some of the dormice were moved because of a railroad reopening project.
Seven acres of land have been leased and are being turned into a suitable habitat for Hazel Dormice. The land will be planted with native trees and vegetation.
This is being done to make up for the habitat loss created by the railroad. The Hazel Dormice will benefit and so will other species.

This is the way to protect species. Animals need a suitable place to live. If we have to use some of their land, then we need to create another space for them.
There is no real conservation without preservation and restoration of habitats.
