Thai city to round up its Macaques
#1
The Thai city of Lopburi is famous for its Macaque population. Tourists regularly feed the Macaques. The number of Macaques has increased and they have become quite aggressive about food. They did try a program of sterilization, but it wasn't enough. Now they are rounding them up. They will live in large enclosures and be fed a better balance of food than the tourists give them.

As always, things do not end well when we feed wildlife. The city had some Macaques and they were no problem. They were fed some, but it wasn't a problem. Then feeding the Macaques became a tourism thing and the Macaques became a problem. More food increased the number of Macaques.
More Macaques created competition over the food available.
I don't know if rounding up the Macaques is going to help. I hope it is done without hurting the Macaques. One thing that needs to change is the humans feeding the macaques. If not, the problem will occur again. The few Macaques left will multiply and the problem will start all over.

The message is clear. STOP FEEDING WILDLIFE!
