Owner pushes for regulation of dog grooming after her dog is injured
#1
Tim the Pomeranian was dropped off for grooming. An hour later he was being rushed to the vet with a three inch gash. Someone used the wrong clippers on him. They were meant for a much larger dog. A trained groomer should have known what size of clippers to use.
A better regulated grooming industry would make sure groomers are trained before they are accredited. Right now anyone can groom a dog.

No training is required, just clippers. Those can be purchased on line and in a lot of pet stores. People can buy them and groom their own dog if they want.
If you were grooming your own dog you would get the right size of clippers and take your time.
Someone selling grooming services might have very little experience. Maybe there is one breed they are good at, but they don't realize how different the various breeds are. There needs to be some standards of training s that dogs don't get hurt. Tim didn't deserve what happened to him. He is a happy little dog who should never have been injured.
