April 22 is earth day.  It is a time to stop and look at and appreciate this marvelous planet of ours. It is also a time to look at what we can do to help our planet thrive and survive. We have done so much damage that we need to work now to fix things.

I am going to be out working on gardens I am planting for the animal shelter.
There are vegetables in the rooftop container garden. There is even a catnip patch.
Out behind the shelter is a larger garden full of native shrubs and native perennials, biennials and milkweed from seeds that come back every year to feed the monarch butterflies. It is the work of many years and each year it becomes a bit more self sustaining.

The planet needs us all to do what we can in our own way in our own location. If we all do a little bit, a lot gets done.
If all you can do is take a walk and pick up some garbage, it will be enough because there are many of us and we are all doing our part.
