Will green sea turtles survive climate change
#1
Turtles everywhere are in trouble. There are so many things like pollution of the oceans and garbage covered beaches that make it hard for them to survive.
There is another very serious problem. At warmer temperatures the turtles eggs will develop into females. Usually a nest produces half males and half females. That can vary, but it would average out over time. Now with higher temperatures there are few males hatching. It is okay now, but before long there will be no males to fertilize the eggs.

This is kind of an emergency. We need to find a way to cool the nests down. I am sure there are some good ideas. Could the eggs be placed in a temperature controlled incubator. I wonder if a tent could be placed over the nest and somehow be cooled down.
Just a thought, maybe we could get serious about global warming and climate change and do something.
