Alpacas in Idaho test positive for bird flu
#1
A farm in Idaho has tested positive for bird flu in its chickens. A herd of 18 Alpacas have been in contact with the chickens. Four of those Alpacas have tested positive for bird flu. This is the first time animals from the Camelid family have tested positive for bird flu. This is the same strain of flu as the one present in dairy cattle.

This is concerning. Bird flu is adapting and spreading to mammals of a number of different species.
We do not know how serious a problem this is going to be for humans or the species we associate with.
So far there have been no deaths in the Alpacas. Let us hope it stays that way.
