Iberian Lynx makes a comeback
#1
The Iberian Lynx has made a comeback from endangered to vulnerable. In 2001 there were only 62 mature cats left. In 2022 there were 648 mature cats.
When you add the number of young lynx to the mature lynx, there are as many as 2000. There are 14 clusters of the animals, 13 in Spain and one in Portugal.
Conservation efforts are bringing them back. There are plans to introduce the lynx to more sites.
The situation has improved, but they are not out of danger yet.

When we set our minds on doing something, we can do it. The Lynx were declining and in danger of extinction. Human efforts to save them have paid off.
They have made a tremendous recovery. If we keep it up they will be safe from extinction. Who knows what their presence in the ecosystem will do to stabilize things. There are other species who could benefit from the presence of the lynx. Time will tell.
