The Columbus Zoo in Ohio is home to a troop of Western Lowland Gorillas. Sue and Ktembe have just welcomed a new baby gorilla.
Sue is proving to be a very attentive mother and is bonding well with the new baby. The rest of the troop i giving them space.

That is a beautiful baby. He or she is thriving and will do well with other gorillas to help with socialization.
Western Lowland Gorillas are endangered and struggling in the wild. Having a healthy population under human care is a way to ensure species survival if things get worse. For now the baby is joy to look at and she will make the troop very happy.
