Baby swans in trouble because of human feeding
#1
You may remember the story of Mango and Charlotte. Mango had to be captured and treated because of an injury. The video of his reunion with Charlotte  is enough to make you cry. She waited, but she didn't know she would ever see him again. They were both overjoyed to see each other.

This spring they hatched 5 cygnets and two survived. They have been happily raising them. Sadly in spite of signs asking people no to, people have been feeding bread to the young swans. They are now malnourished and have developed a condition they call angel wing. The wings are small and malformed. The two cygnets will not be able to fly. In hopes of saving them, they have been taken from their parents and placed in a sanctuary. With good feeding there is a chance they can save their wings. They might develop normally. Sadly the two swans will not be able to be released back into the wild.

Mango was hurt in the first place by human behavior. Now humans have almost destroyed his children.
They must look at us and hate us. We have brought so much harm into their lives.

The city has posted signs explaining why you can't feed bread to the water fowl. People still do it.
Why are people so stupidly stubborn. There is plenty of natural food for the birds. The swans live in a very good area. If we would leave them alone they would be fine. Now Mango and Charlotte have lost their two remaining children.

We need to get tough and start fining people caught doing things that can harm wildlife.
