Charlie the elephant has been help in captivity for 40 years. The efforts of EMS Foundation with the help of groups like 4Paws have finally succeeded in getting Charlie freed.

Charlie is still in transition and quarantine, but he is gradually moving towards release into a 10,000 hectare reserve.
He hasn't been free since he was two years old. He has suffered as a circus elephant. I can't imagine what he is thinking after all this time.
I wonder if he remembers being free. Hopefully he has many more years ahead of him to enjoy his freedom.
