Climate change effects crocodile behavior
#1
As climate change results in a warmer planet, salt water crocodiles in Australia are being effected. They have had to make changes in their pattern of behavior.
They are abandoning basking behavior which serves to raise their temperature and are increasing their amount of cooling behavior.
They are less active during warmer times. Their metabolisms run higher which increases their oxygen use, which reduces how deep they can dive and for how long.
This could effect their growth and reproduction. They might even shift to the cooler waters of southern Australia.

These might seem like small changes, but they are not. The crocodiles are an important part of their ecosystem. It will be effected if the crocodiles are less functional or if they move south. The southern Australian ecosystems will be effected if the crocodiles appear. Who knows what the effects will be.

These kind of responses to climate change are happening all over. We have no idea what the results of the changes will be.
It is like we are living in a giant science experiment that is observing the effects of raising the temperature of our planet.
It  doesn't matter if people believe this is happening, it is happening.
