Justice for Arzy
#1
Poor Arzy was a friendly labrador. His caretaker was arrested by a policeman, who then shot the dog through the head and had difficulty hiding his smile afterwards. He has since resigned from the police, following an internal investigation, and has now been charged. There will be a pre-trial conference in December. The American police seem to be very trigger happy these days.....He has pleaded not guilty, so does not seem to even acknowledge that shooting a perfectly friendly dog (which was wagging its tail) is an offence. He claims that the dog bit him in the foot, but there are eye witnesses who have testified that this did not happen. I know whom to believe and not believe.....

This story is horrific. It has overtones of things that used to happen in the Nazi regime.

There's also an article on the Huffington Post which gives a lot of detail:

From other stories on the Facebook page, it seems there are a lot of trigger-happy dog murderers around in the U.S. police force. Clearly the criteria are not strict enough to define what is a dangerous dog in attack mode...or to eliminate those officers who obviously have psychotic tendencies.

I hope they throw the book at this so-called 'officer of the law' and all those like him.

There seem to be a lot of trigger happy police period. It is dogs and people that they shoot at. It is worse in the USA, but Canada has had incidents. We have more of a gun culture in North America and the USA is certainly pro gun. I just don't understand how they can put up with police who are so out of control.

When I read about the riots in some areas, I guess they are not putting up with it.

It seems extreme to arrest two men for getting out of the rain. They were not harming anything. Certainly handcuffs seem excessive. If the dog was to be taken into custody, animal control should have been called. I think the police officer deliberately shot the dog. I don't feel safer when men like that are police officers.
