It's World Turtle day!
Everyone loves turtles.

We love turtles on the land. We love turtles in the oceans. We love turtles in our lakes and ponds and streams.
We can't imagine a world without turtles. Turtles need us if they are going to survive.
There are people out there working to protect and help turtles.
The Turtle Protectors is one of my favourites. They work to protect Ontario Turtles.

They protect turtle nests in parks right in Toronto.
There are many turtle sanctuaries now. There are even places that take in pet turtles. They can't be released anywhere, but they deserve to live out their full lives in peace and comfort.

Clearly there is a lot of turtle activity going on.

The more I look, the more I find.

There are more groups than I could possibly post about.
Concern for turtles may be one of the few things that truly unites us.
Volunteers around the world look out for turtle nests. People protect turtles crossing roads.
Ordinary people rush to save cold shocked turtles where the weather turns cold along the ocean.

This is one of my favourite stories. People saved over 5000 cold stunned turtles.
There are many more stories, but think of over 5000 turtles returned to the ocean because humans helped.
That is a lot of turtles.
So, Happy World Turtle Day.
There is much to celebrate.
