Eight Orangutans returned to the wild in Borneo

[Catherine]

Borneo suffered severe wildfires in August and September. Forty-six Orangutans were rescued from the area.
Today, eight Orangutans have been returned to the wild. They were three mothers and their three daughters and two males.
They were released in a reserve west of the island. The species is critically endangered and this was determine to be the best plan for them.

I hope this is a good fresh start for them. Their habitat is badly damaged. I could be a long time before it can sustain life.
The new location has what they need. I look forward to hearing good news about the eight. Hopefully they can establish themselves and increase their numbers.
