It is not often I get to an article first since I am time zone challenged.
The BBC article is good. Some of the historical material has implications. If they put a pig on trial they are saying the pig has moral culpability for a crime.
If animals have no rights and no understanding, then they can't be charged with crimes. If they can be charged then we are saying they are capable of understanding right and wrong. We can't have it both ways.
This is a case to watch and I do hope these two chimps get some justice and freedom.
