So true. Dogs have such a great sense of smell. They can pick up subtle chemical changes in a person.  You can't fool a dog.
I have met animals that have a history and are wary of people or certain types of people. That is different than someone who dogs just don't like in general.

People  like that, I worry about them. They usually have other problems. I have just taken on a new client and he does not like wildlife in the city. He would like  it all to be gone. They were here first and all the various creatures are part of what makes Toronto interesting. He also used to hunt when he was younger. He sees nature as something for his use and has no sensitivity to it.
Maybe if I listen I  can find a way to influence him. It is worth a try.
I have had harder situations.
