52 endangered Vancouver Island Marmots are being released
#1
The Marmot Recovery Foundation released its first  marmots 20 years ago when there were only 22 marmots left in the wild.
Now there are 200 marmots. This summer another 52 will be released.

Recovery has been very slow, but bit by bit the marmots are recovering. Clear cut logging destroyed much of their natural habitat. It has taken years to replace the trees. As the land recovers and the marmots return, life is returning to normal.

The Archibald Biodiversity  Center in the Calgary  area has 14 little  marmots.

This is a real cause  for hope. The marmot numbers are still low, but they are improving.
